So what is talent and why is talent management Important?
Talent and how we manage talent differs across sectors, industries and cultures. What we define as talent in one culture, industry and organisation may be different in another culture, industry and organisation.
There are many definitions for talent and talent management; however in Atieh Borna Negar we use the following definitions:
consists of those individuals who can make a difference to the performance of an organisation either through immediate actions or through longer term impact.
is the systematic attraction, identification, development, engagement and retention of individuals who are of particular value to an organisation, either because they have been selected as a ‘high potential’ for the future or because they are fulfilling a critical function within the organisation.
Talent management strategy
It is not enough for an organisation to only attract high potential individuals. The organization must also have the right environment to motivate, develop, manage and retain these individuals.
Therefore if an organisation wants to attract talent, it must first prepare a talent management strategy to ensure it has the right systems and processes in place to also be able to measure the return on its investment.
